We are appreciative of those that join us in supporting and helping our Vets. We have had the opportunity to participate in many activities this fall.
OCTOBER
One of our first events was to support the Vietnam Vets of Columbus County, NC in their Boston butt fundraiser. We bought and delivered five Boston butts to WWII Vets Odell McKeithen and Hector McNeil; a Korean War Vet and two Vietnam War Veterans.
In early October, our President, Andy, took Vietnam Vet Pat Coleman and two of his family members to North Myrtle Beach for dinner at Miyabi’s and an Oak Ridge Boys Concert. They attended the meet and greet before the concert for handshakes and photos.
Also in October, the Women’s Auxiliary held a Chicken Bog fundraiser for the Columbus County Vietnam Vets in Whiteville, NC. We purchased eight plates and delivered them to Mr. Curtis Barns, a WWII Navy Vet, and his son Jerry Barns, a Navy Seabee. Four other plates were delivered to homebound Vets. Outfitter Roy Gore and Larry Dwyer had their lunch with the folks at the Vet building.
NOVEMBER
In November, we treated Army Vet Sterling Sarvis and his wife to a steak dinner at the Woodsman of the World Lodge; Navy Vet Huston Miller and his guest were also treated with a steak dinner.
We had the privilege of treating four of our Veterans on Veteran’s Day at Dale’s Seafood. It was an honor to provide for these men who served our country.
Again, Honor And Valor Foundation supported the Boston butt fundraiser by purchasing and delivering to these local Vets: Mark Brison, US Marines; Cleveland Baker, US Army; Don Forsome, US Navy; and Harry Hart, National Guard.
